Kids Stuff

Moving, renovating, getting work done, going to the supermarket, getting dressed in the morning… it’s hard to get anything done when you have kids (says the person that wrote this]. And that’s just the physical load. The mental load of parenting can be even heavier.

We know it’s tempting to hide your kids in a TAXIBOX for a day when you need to get some stuff done, but there are other options. We even went ahead and compiled a few solutions for you below (we figured you’re time-poor… it comes hand in hand with the whole parenting thing).

Create a Parenting Toolkit

If you’re a new Mum or Dad and feeling way over your head, you’re not the only one. Someone should really create a club. Feeling like you have no idea what you’re doing as a new parent is normal (only thing is, being just as confused as everyone else doesn’t make it any easier).

The Australian Raising Children Network has all the resources you need to support your kids through the highs and lows of parenting. Bonus points for easy-to-digest info – from dealing with pre-teens, pregnancy, toddlers, you name it. All because it’s written for busy parents like you (aka ALL parents).

Take a Day Off

When you have kids, sometimes you need a day (or 5) off to feel like a functioning human again. Remember, pushing yourself to breaking point doesn’t help anyone. Using your new mindfulness techniques will help you recognise your need to take a break, but even with that up your sleeve, there’s one thing everyone needs to do every once in a while: ask for help.

Create a routine or just take the day to get some things crossed off your list with Childcare Finder. After-school care, family daycare, centre-based daycare – or whatever suits your schedule.

Treat Yo’self for Once

If you’re a parent, you probably have a habit of putting your kids first, all the time – but that shouldn’t stop you from treating yourself every once in a while. Take a day to take care of yourself and fit your own oxygen mask first – as a bonus, you’re role modelling self-care to your kids. How selfless! If you’re a mum or dad that deserves a treat (or have a parent in your life that deserves a treat), find a spa nearby using Spa Finder and make someone’s day: Remember, it still counts if you’re making your own day. Someone’s gotta do it, right?
